Gold Medal Wrestling Camps

Our ultimate goal in creating a youth and high school wrestling program is to inspire young men and women to pursue an athletic career, of any length, in a sport that provides the cornerstones for discipline, work ethic, and sense of self.

For many reasons participation in the sport of wrestling has dwindled over the past 20 years. It is the obligation of those that have benefited from their participation in the sport to ensure that it continues to exist.

Creating a youth program affiliated with Harvard University will provide a focus on athletics as well as academics. The coaching staff at Harvard is the most highly regarded in New England. The staff and the wrestlers have been leaders on the mat and in the community for decades. The combination of elite coaching and exposure to the Harvard environment and wrestling program will be an enticing package for the parents of local youth wrestlers.

2015 NEC Men's Retreat featuring Patriots Chaplain Jack Easterby

Work, marriage, kids, hobbies...God?

A man's life can be quite a balancing act.

HOW DO YOU KEEP IT ALL IN PERSPECTIVE? And where does your faith fit in? At this interactive event, connect with other men as you explore the meaning of true significance and purpose--and how it affects your daily life on a practical level. Be encouraged and equipped to find success that really matters.

The 2015 New England Chapel Men's Retreat returns to the Warren Center in Ashland, MA April 25-26, with special guest speaker Jack Easterby, Team Chaplain for the New England Patriots.

The program is designed to help men get away from their everyday surroundings in order to get connected and inspired around important topics familiar to every man's heart:

  • What does success look like in my life?
  • Am I pursuing success as the world defines it?
  • Does this definition of success fit my life?
  • Is it fulfilling and does it give me a greater sense of purpose?
  • Why does my definition of success seem so unattainable?
  • Why is it that after I successfully achieve something, I don't feel the satisfaction I was expecting?
  • What part does God have in the kind of success I'm pursuing?
  • Is there more to this life that I'm missing out on?
Easterby was hired more than a year ago as the full-time chaplain for the New England Patriorts and has been credited even by Tom Brady as being pivotal to the Pats' latest Super Bowl victory. Read more about Jack Easterby at these links: The $149 registration fee includes all meals, snacks, lodging and program materials. Scholarships are available on request - don't make money the reason for not attending!

FAQs

What can I expect at the Men's Retreat? It's laid back, but organized. Upon arrival at 8:30 am on Saturday, the program kicks off with speakers, video presentations and a few small group exercises. We build in breaks for meals and some free time to relax, reflect, connect or to play a friendly game of horsehoes or pick-up basketball. We enjoy a bonfire together on Saturday night; we have breakfast together and a brief worship service on Sunday before we wrap up the program and send everyone on their way by noon.

What are the accomodations like?

We stay in clean dormatory-style housing that have bunkbeds and shared bathrooms. There's a central mess hall, expansive grounds and conference meeting rooms.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Plenty of guys carpool to Ashland which is a short drive from the Franklin area. After you register, look for emails from Men's Ministry about a week before the event about carpool options. Carpooling is a great way to connect with fellow attendees and to break the ice with guys you've just met or don't know all that well. Some guys arrange to get to Ashland together by bicycle or motorcycle. There's plenty of parking onsite at the Warren Center.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

Change of clothes, sleeping bag and pillow are the basics to bring. A Bible is a good idea, but not required. Use common sense in what NOT to bring to a church-sponsored event. You know, weapons, alcohol, drugs and that sort of thing.

Will I be expected to share?

Only if you want to. While most guys say they get more out of the experience if they share, it's not a requirement. Guys are encouraged to do what they're most comfortable with even if that means observing and listening.

Can I invite someone who doesn't attend NEC?

Heck yes - ALL men are encouraged to attend. Attendance/membership at NEC is not a requirement.

I have RSVP'd for the event through Eventbrite - is that all I need to do?

There's one more critical step to reserve your attendance at this event - payment online on NEC's website here:

http://www.newenglandchapel.org/_forms/view/23720

We'll also accept cash or check payments at the door on April 25.

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

You can send an email to Matt Kelly at mtkelly25@me.com or mensministry@newenglandchapel.org
